The last time I attended, or worked/volunteered at, Camp ASCCA was as a ______, back in _______ ...
Unit Leader, Summer 2007
A little bit about me:
I live, study and work in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I'm currently at CU as a Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences (Speech Therapy undergrad). I've worked at Camp Ascca for 3 summers and am about to descend for the fourth. Every year gets better and better! My life has been dramtically changed because of this camp, my fellow workers and especially the campers. It is a magical place!
Favorite memories of Camp ASCCA?
So many! I think they have to be those unexpected times, like during a black out with the guitar out and singing any simple camp or gospel song I can think of so to keep it entertaining! The gigglefests with Mobile Rotary campers, Mary Nell as Gene Simmons pretty much rocked my world, and seeing Matt Rickman in his element (80s!!!!!!!!!!!!). I'd have to say that the down times in the girl's cabins are my favorite. Who knows what's going to happen or who's going to say what but that's the best part!
Has Camp ASCCA had a dramatic impact upon your life? Care to share how?
I was on a slippery slope towards complacency before camp. I had honestly never given a thought to working within the disabled community until I met Miss Abbey Love and had heard all the stories and saw all the pictures. It inspired me to try something completely different, not to mention to live in a completely different place. Camp has jump started my life and probably saved me from years of questioning what direction I should take. The campers above all have made the most impact on me. I cannot begin to say how much love and acceptance I feel from all these very special people. They've shown me that we all have our own disabilities and abilities, some are just more visible than others.
Where am I now? (City, State, Country)
Sunny Boulder, Colorado
Relationship Status?
Single
Occupation? So, you're wondering what I'm doing these days?
I'd like to think I'm a student, but in reality I'm a ski bum/wanderer at heart. I can't help it! I think it's in the blood

It was great seeing you at camp this year! By the way, excellent singing on prom night. That theme is now one of my favorites, and, quite ironically, I think it's Shanae's fave as well!

I know, for some reason you seem to be in so many of my pics. I haven't talked to him. And the real world is eerily similar, but it'll all set in soon enough. Can't wait to see you soon.
