All it took was a few phone calls and multiple emails, and ........DONE! I am now booked through the summer with presentations! :-)
Earlier this morning, I received a phone call from Nancy. I apologize that Nancy's last name has now slipped my mind, but I do remember her from the summer of 1986! Amazing how the mind works, isn't it? I can't tell you what I did yesterday, where I'm going next week or Nancy's last name! But someone I knew one summer 22 years ago, not a problem! :-) Anyway, Nancy worked as a counselor in the summer of 1986, and she has never forgotten it! She called this morning to "catch up on things" here at Camp ASCCA. Despite the fact that she has been unable to visit in all of those years, the excitement in her voice for camp was contagious! I love hearing stories of lives being touched by camp. I invited Nancy to join us here at ASCCA Friends, and hopefully she will soon.
Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Cullman Pilot Club on Tuesday night and the Talladega Rotary Club on Thursday. The sweet ladies in Cullman have befriended me! A couple of them have sent emails requesting me to keep in touch, which I look forward to doing. Talladega was not only special because of the club there, but I also was able to see an old friend of mine that day. Judy Williams came to the meeting to hear my presentation and it was so great to her again after all of these years! Judy has been involved with camp from the very beginning which has pretty much turned her into an ASCCA Icon! I get a kick out of hearing the current staff talk about her because the first thing that comes out of their mouths is always, "Oh, I love Mrs. Judy!" Thanks for visiting with me last week Mrs. Judy! :-)
This week I was able to attend my first ever Tuberville Golf Tournament! Dana Rickman is my new hero because of her ability to plan and organize such events! It was a great day and Dana did a fabulous job with putting it all together. And for anyone who is wondering, Coach Tuberville is the coolest guy! Somehow he discovered that I'm an Alabama fan, but said he liked me anyway! It was a true pleasure meeting him, and I look forward to seeing him there again next year!
Bright and early Thursday morning I visited the Tuscaloosa Morning Rotary Club. One of ASCCA's board members, Mrs. Georgia Buetner, is a member there and invited me to speak. Also, another board member, Mrs. Dale Glover, visited from a different Rotary Club in town to hear me. It was great to see and visit with both of them. We had a good time, and I appreciated the invitation!
Next week I go to Opelika on Tuesday and Athens on Friday........
